Acceptable Use Policy
Drafted from PLAN.md section 12. Not legal advice; a lawyer must review before payments are taken.
DRAFT for legal review. This is a working draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
SocialScrape returns public data about real people. This policy sets the limits on how you may use the service and that data. It is part of the Terms of Service. Breaking it can end your access, without a refund.
You may not use the service to#
- Stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate or dox anyone, or to find, track or contact a person who does not want to be found or contacted.
- Build profiles of private individuals, or a database of personal details about people who are not public figures, creators or businesses acting in public.
- Send spam or bulk unsolicited messages, including with contact details or emails collected through the service, or break anti-spam laws.
- Sell or share raw personal data you received, as a product, list or feed.
- Target children, or collect or use data about minors beyond what is needed to comply with the law.
- Discriminate unlawfully, including making decisions about housing, credit, insurance, employment or education from the data in a way the law forbids.
- Surveil people for governments or others in a way that violates human rights or the law, or to suppress, persecute or silence people.
- Break the law, including privacy, data protection, consumer protection, intellectual property and export laws, or help anyone else do so.
- Evade limits or attack the service: share keys outside your team, create multiple accounts to repeat the free credits, send abusive volumes to bypass rate limits, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or resell access to the API as-is.
- Misrepresent the data: present retrieved content as if it were endorsed by the person or platform, or fabricate or alter it and present it as retrieved.
- Ask for what we do not offer: private or logged-in data, or inference of sensitive traits (such as age or gender) from faces or images.
You must#
- Follow the privacy and data protection law that applies to you, and have a lawful basis for processing personal data you get from the service.
- Respect deletion: when someone has asked us to remove data about them, do not keep asking for it or re-publish it.
- Keep your keys private, and use a separate key per application so one can be revoked alone.
- Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you discover misuse of your account.
Copyright#
Posts, comments, images, audio and transcripts can be protected by copyright. We retrieve them; we do not license them. You are responsible for having the right to use what you retrieve.
How we enforce this#
We review reports and unusual usage. We may ask questions, limit a key, or suspend a key or a team. A suspension is lifted when we are satisfied the use is lawful. Serious or repeated breaches end the account. To report misuse, write to [email protected].
